The paper analyzes measures to support the innovative potential of pharmaceutical industry by the state, namely the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The main areas, such as building a modern scientific infrastructure that ensures the setting up of centers to design new drugs; supporting investigations to design innovative medications; and establishing a comprehensive continuing education system that meets the requirements for pharmaceutical industry’s transition to an innovative path towards development, are defined. The paper provides evidence for the effectiveness of measures for state support of the innovative development of the pharmaceutical industry.
