THE STRUCTURE OF A MARKET FOR SYSTEMICALLY USED ANTIBACTERIAL DRUGS IN RUSSIA

Systemic antibacterial medications are actively used in medical practice. The paper considers the structure of a range of drugs of this group by their chemical structure, formulations, and origin and shows the specific features of their assortment. At present, the Russian Federation has registered 98 international nonproprietary names of antibacterial medications constituting 928 positions in the State Registry (541 trade names). The specific features of the physicochemical properties of antimicrobial drugs define the preponderance of semi-finished medications among the liquid formulations. The wide spread of generics and the predominance of drugs made in foreign countries in the range of medications suggest that there is a high degree rivalry in this segment of Russia’s pharmaceutical market.
