The carried out analysis of the innovation development of the market of suppositories is based on the classification of pharmaceutical product innovations by the level of innovativeness. The highest innovation activity on the Russian market of suppositories was achieved in the 1990s. Later on, the level of innovations introduced to the market has decreased (modified innovations have become predominant), which is one of the signs of maturity of this market. The largest number of innovations has been put into segments of anti-infective, antihemorrhoidal, and analgesic drugs. Russian manufacturers have demonstrated the important role in the innovation development of the suppository market. Their activity is associated with the formation of a diversity of novel pharmacotherapeutic segments of the suppository market, including agents having immunotropic activity and those for the treatment of dysbacteriosis or prostate diseases.
