DETERMINATION OF FLAVONOIDS IN PEACH (PERSICA VULGARIS) LEAVES: PROCEDURE VALIDATION

Introduction. Peach (Persica vulgaris) is widely cultivated as a food plant in many countries of the world. In medical practice, peach kernels are used to produce fatty peach oil. Peach leaf extract has a broad range of pharmacological properties; it is used exclusively in biologically active additives (BAA). A procedure has been developed to assess the quality of raw materials for the novel BAA Oxyfrin based on liquid peach leaf extract. Objective: to validate the modified spectrophotometric procedure for the standardization of peach leaves. Material and methods. The investigation object was samples of dried peach leaves gathered in the vicinity of the city of Maikop, Krasnodar Region. Validation studies were conducted in accordance with the current regulatory requirements. Results. The procedure was validated using indicators, such as linearity, repeatability, reproducibility, and correctness. The developed procedure to determine the amount of flavonoids calculated with reference to rutin in peach leaves was ascertained to be reproducible and available, to require no expensive reagents, and to allow the quality of raw materials to be properly assessed. Conclusion. The investigation has provided the validation characteristic of the spectrophotometric procedure to determine the amount of flavonoids in peach leaves. The procedure can be used to produce the BAA Oxyfrin when assessing the quality of raw materials.
